Review

Via the ongoing "Cocada" series, Get Physical Music is attempting to shine a light on up-and-coming house and techno producers from Brazil. There's a second full-length compilation on the way (look out for it in April 2019), but first the Berlin imprint is delivering a third and final EP of remixes of tracks featured on last year's inaugural edition. First, Cioz plays around with Hauy's "Redpath", re-casting the track as a smooth and hypnotic slab of drowsy deep house/tech-house fusion. Tara Banks revision of Ossiam's "When You Say My Name" is arguably even better. While the beats are undeniably sturdy, it's the dreaminess of the accompanying musical elements - dubby bass, spacey pads, gentle acid style electronics and echo-laden vocoder vocals - that makes the remix a glassy-eyed, early morning treat.
