Review

Munich twosome COEO have released on all manner of labels over the last decade, but much of their best work has been reserved for Toy Tonics. It's something of a surprise, then, to find that 'Eternal Waves' is actually their first outing for that label for almost three years. They hit the ground running with 'Nostalgia', a fittingly titled fusion of piano-driven Italo-house retro-futurism, joyous synth-horns, rubbery synth-bass and nods to the kaleidoscopic colours of turn-of-the-90s dream house. Stump Valley remixes, opting for a rushing, saucer-eyed vibe - all hands-aloft piano stabs, fluctuating synth bass and crunchy drums. Elsewhere, 'Breeze (Bambo Tribute)' doffs a camp to the chunkier and more organ-rich end of the garage-house dubs spectrum, and 'Meet Me At The Cascades' sees them lean more heavily into Italo-house nostalgia.
