Review

Crystal Fighters have assembled an impressive collection of producers to rework their jaunty electro-pop hit "Plage" on this huge EP. The Pictures Music stable is well represented, with Dauwd turning in a melancholic rolling bass rework which erupts into a Martyn-esque house stepper, Lapalux turning it into a downbeat chopped and screwed pop masterpiece, and Rudi Zygadlo turning in a neo-classical neon rework. Auntie Flo, fresh from the success of his massive track "Oh My Days", provides a highlife inspired version which takes the guitars and draws out the African pop quality, whilst Hackman transforms it into a slice of euphoric techno. The electro axis is represented by Radioproof who causes the track to erupt with huge compressed organs and elastic synths, whilst Trev's "Analog Funk Mix" adds a dreamy Balearic touch to proceedings with its thick bass and lush textures.
