After previously impressing with the excellent Throwback EP on Local Talk, Dale Howard brings his brand of energetic old skool revivalism to Mo. "Chancer" itself is a formidably sweaty concoction, all booming kicks, snappy snares, relentless cymbals, wonky vocal samples and eye-popping stabs. Compared to his previous work, it's impressively raw - an excellent example of the sheer power of a few simple elements, arranged perfectly. The slightly deeper "Never Know" features similarly garage-influenced drums, alongside a delicious analogue bassline and some warm but subdued chords. It sounds a bit like DJ Duke on downers, if that makes any sense. Either way, it sounds good.
