Dutchman Darko Esser has not released much material on his Wolfskuil label in the past few years, allowing other artists the opportunity to put out records. Now it's his turn to step back into the light - and it's been worth the wait. "Lost In Space" is based on spiky, metallic drums and insistent stabs, but Esser sets it apart from the sea of club techno by imbuing it with airy melodies and a rolling funk bassline. There's a similar approach on "Lost in Translation", with metallic drums underpinning an incessant, buzzing bass, while "Lost in Time" features the seemingly disparate combination of grainy bass and spacey melodies. It shouldn't work, but in Darko's hands, it does.
