Donato Epiro's last album for Black Moss was the most underrated noise LP of 2014 and, although it seems like we've been among the few to eagerly await a follow-up from the producer, this new album for London's Loopy couldn't have come soon enough. You might know the label from a series of Eps they put out over the last few years, including a FIS release with an excellent Kassem Mosse version, but all you really need to know is that the imprint is on-point. Rubisco is an album that lands on many intriguing touchpoints, and from noise through to musique concrete and field recordings, it is one of the most organic pieces of music weve heard so far in 2017. That's not to say that it is a challenging piece of work, but its nine experiments are full of movement and vision, often landing on territories that would easily appeal to the more daring DJs. In the opening parts of their sets, of course. Recommended!
