Gilles Aiken has spent most of his career as Edward delivering "expressionist" tech-house and minimal workouts for Giegling and Die Orakel. He's changed tack a touch on his Smallville label debut, combining his usual skewed tech-house grooves with oodles of spacey synth sounds and a classy deep house veneer. Check first superb opener 'Primal Dream', a bold, beautiful and memorable take on authentic late '90s UK tech-house with his personal twist, before admiring the bleep-meets-tech-house trip that is 'Blue Glue'. Title track 'Eddie Green' is sun-splashed Balearic house for the ages, while 'So Slow' is a quirky, sample-rich affair whose delicately drafted rhythm track and layered musical elements manage to be both picturesque and pleasingly unusual.Get new release alerts
