Singer Elina Monova has enjoyed a stop-start career to date, releasing just a handful of singles and appearing on one or two notable albums (the most highlight being Manuel Tur's most recent effort on Freerange). Here she attempts to get her solo career going again with an intriguing EP on Rest. "Something Special" itself is a fragile oddity - a soft focus downtempo cut that woozily touches on jazz and deep house. The EP's other original cut, "L'Annant", sees her move successfully into atmospheric deep house territory. The package also includes a number of floor-friendly remixes. Of these, it's Eddie C's deep jazz-house tweak of the title track that most impresses. Recommended.
