Review

By now, it should be obvious that second-guessing what Theo Parrish will do with a remix is nigh on impossible. You could get off-kilter deep house, slo-mo weirdness or something altogether more intriguing. These remixes of antipodean festival favourites Fat Freddy's Drop pleasingly fall into the latter category. Over 10 mesmerizing minutes, the New Zealand outfit's bubbly original gets turned into a loose, undulating trip into space jazz territory - all pitched-down vocals (on the main mix, at least), fuzzy analogue keys, hissing percussion and dubbed-out blasts of discordant horns. It's kind of like a smacked-out version of the Parrish-produced Andrew Ashong single, "Flowers", sprinkled with space dust. There's no finer praise than that.
