Eglo main man and all round soulful explorer of the deep; Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points is back, with an eagerly awaited full length which inaugurates his new Pluto imprint. Starting out with the melancholic yet serene orchestral soundscape of "Nespola" he then provides sounds more typical of the Floating Points style, such as on the emotive and breathtaking "Silhouettes" (which features an amazing strings section!) and the spacey and downright epic "Argente" whose stunning arpeggio and rich analogue strings will transport you straight to the stars. The dusty, organ led soul jam "For Marmish" reminds us of his love of modern Motor City greats like the Three Chairs but it all builds to a climax on the epic ending scenes of "Peroration Six" whose meticulous broken beat (reminiscent of Kaidi Tatham or Bugz In The Attic) accompanies another mindblowing orchestral arrangement. It is undoubtedly one of the most blissful musical experiences you'll have all year. A tremendous effort.
