Veteran techno producer Frank Martiniq delivers a massive release for Jackoff. "Magnetar" is a deep, dubby groove, underpinned by a wobbly bass. It's an understated affair and sits in stark contrast to the title track. Inspired by the tranced out sounds of German 90s techno, "Heaven Is A 909" sees Martiniq weave together layer upon layer of ghostly synths, underpinned by a raw drum track - recorded on the piece of kit referenced in the title. The label has also chosen its remixers wisely. Jackoff boss Elie Eidelman lends "Magnetar" some extra dance floor clout, while John Barera is tasked with reworking "Heaven". Making the groove more rolling and the drums softer, he turns it into an evocative but clubby affair.
