Since launching the Homo-Centric imprint last year, GIDEON has released a trio of solo EPs that deftly showcase the Adonis mainstay's distinctive trademark sound. The most recent of these paid tribute to the late, great Aaron Carl, and this one - which features appearances from Tasty Lopez and Tobirus Mozelle - is a "response and reply" to Cajmere's Dajae-sporting house classic 'Brighter Days'. In its' original mix form (track one), GIDEON's 'Brighter Days' is a near 10-minute re-imagining of the Cajmere sound that sits somewhere between classic deep house, broken house, and analogue-rich late-night hedonism. Arguably even better is the accompanying dub, which emphasises the key elements of the original - the shuffling, loose limbed beats, warped analogue bass and classic-sounding synth stabs - while adding extra layers of trippy electronics and locked-in late-night sounds.
