In early 2016, ambient soundscape artist Scott Morgan (AKA Loscil) and cellist Mark Bridges set up camp in a refurbished schoolhouse in Saratoga, Wyoming. Over the weeks that followed, they recorded an album's worth of drifting soundscapes, utilizing their own field recordings, Bridges' cello, a piano and a basic studio set up. The results, as showcased on Cinderland - their first release as High Plains - are little less than magical. Sitting somewhere between the vintage neo-classical of In The Nursery, the intricate piano compositions of Nils Frahm and the drowsy ambience of Steve Hauschildt, it's a set that wearily shuffles from wintery melancholy to mountaintop poignancy, and back again.
