The first release of 2015 on Gruuv comes from Italian producer Ugo Basile, aka Hugo. With releases on Mobilee and Tuning Spork to his credit, it's no surprise that Ultravogue sees him providing a masterclass in minimal house. The title track is a pared back affair with just a mysterious vocal riding the resonant rhythm, while "Pendulum" sees him add some dubby drums and a vocal urging the listener to 'pump this shit'. Detlef's take on "Pendulum" is more direct, with a rolling rhythm and driving percussion coming to the fore. The release ends with "Metaloop", where Hugo shows that he's not just a track merchant - its grungy bass reveals sublime melodies and dissected vocal samples that make Hugo's music sound more approachable and fragile.
