For the latest release on their Kaninchenbau label, an outlet focused on "sample-based, pseudo-original tracks", Funk District have recruited sometime Scruniversal, DOBRO, SlothBoogie and Moiss Music contributor I Gemin (real name Mike Popov). The Russian producer begins in suitably dusty and woozy fashion on 'Floraison', a lolloping, sample-rich MPC house head-nodder smothered in jazzy Rhodes licks, before working some dewy-eyed, Hammond-heavy soul loops on the gorgeous 'Mercy On Me'. He moves closer to classy disco-house/deep house fusion territory on 'Natural Born 4', while the breezy and sunset-ready 'The Truth' sees him turn a gorgeous cover of a Marvin Gaye conscious soul classic into a jazzy deep house gem.Get new release alerts
