Review

Washington D.C-based producer James Bangura recently made his debut on hyped vinyl label Vanity Press via an EP that smartly joined the dots between breakbeat-fired deep house and the more spacey end of the Detroit techno spectrum. He's flipped the script a little on this first Stealth Industries outing, first offering up a bouncy but driving slab of extra-percussive techno/ghetto-house fusion ("Bronx Metro") before opting for a deeper, dreamier and more loose-limbed approach on the delightfully polished broken house gem "Pac Showed Me". "Mae Charles" sounds like fellow DC artist Max D after a fist full of happy pills, while closing cut "Famille, Amant Et Ami" is a jungle-tempo shuffle through glassy-eyed ambient melodies, rumbling bass, sunrise chords and bustling breakbeats.
