Review

After exchanging admiring glances across the Iberian Peninsula, Spanish producers James Rod and Parissior have finally decided to "play together". Happily, Golden Soul has decided to share the results of their shared studio labours. Very good they are, too, with the original collaborative mix of "Let's Play Together" wrapping trippy, delay-laden, NYC freestyle-inspired synthesizer motifs around an arpeggio-driven groove that sits somewhere between Giorgio Moroder and cheeky Italo-disco. On his solo rework, Parissor drags the track further towards druggy, bass-heavy nu-disco territory, while Rod's revision adds extra layers of real disco flavours while wisely pushing the bassline and synthesizer motifs to the fore.
