Having kept busy working with the likes of Mark Ronson, Frank Ocean, Romy and Oliver Sim, Jamie XX has finally got round to recording a new album of his own - some nine years after his lauded and popular solo debut, 'Colours'. By now we should know exactly what to expect, namely dusty, dewy-eyed samples, memorable melodies, ear-catching vocals, eye-catching collaborations and grooves that sound just as good on the radio as they do at home and in the club. Highlights come thick and fast, from the moody, high-octane rave heaviness of 'Breather' and the glassy-eyed dance-pop of Robyn hook-up 'Life', to the stab-happy house joy of Honey Dijon collaboration 'Baddy On The Floor' and the electro-clash influenced sleaze of 'All You Children' (with noted sample-loving eccentrics The Avalanches).
