This is Janzon's second release on Code Is Law, a label that has also put music out by Eomac and Moerbeck. Occupying a place between IDM and techno, Dust starts off with the spiky beats and truculent bass of the title track. Somewhere above the arrangement it sounds like a bird is shrieking and cawing relentlessly. "Thermal Arc" also draws on the animal kingdom for inspiration, only on this occasion it's the buzzing of a pissed off wasp expressed through an acidic warbling and fashioned to a slamming rhythm. Meanwhile, "Rove Contact" sees Janzon draw on Suburban Knight's bass-centric malevolence and fashion it to snapping percussion, while "Mary West" ends the release with the kind of dense, abstract rhythm one might expect from label mate Eomac.
