Somewhat remarkably, nearly two decades have passed since Jean Jacques Smoothie tore up the charts with "2 People", a cheery, Minnie Ripperton-sampling number that was featured on a prominent Levi's commercial. He's had mixed fortunes in the years since, but - as this surprise appearance on Slightly Transformed proves - is still capable of delivering the disco-fired goods. "Night Jet" is warm, tactile and dreamy, with colourful synth flourishes, short vocal snippets and occasional chords rising above unfussy house drums and a squelchy, thickset nu-disco bassline. On "Atlantic Highway", the experienced producer moves further towards jazzy deep house pastures with significant success.
