The less than prolific Jichael Mackson aka Munich based producer Boris Steffan returns to the Musique Risque imprint after a three year absence with Just In Time, two fingers of varying technoisms. The hard edged "Locus Pocus" simmers with menacing intent, the crisp metallic percussion reverberating around a soundscape of trippy computer funk for a hypnotic effect. "Sugar Hill Mountain" may be Mackson in deeper mode but there's still a degree of sonic peril as the track progresses. Amidst a backdrop of other atmospheric futurisms, hissing hats rain down on the velveteen bassline and soft pads, building towards a drop into woozy ambience. This brief beatless moment doesn't prepare you for the half step twist of evil bass that follows soon after. Top release.
