As shown by his previous forays into disco re-edit territory, Portuguese producer Alkalino isn't averse to producing music that emphasizes fun over dreary underground beard stroking. That sense of fun is evident on "Just Like Music", a Marvin Gaye-biting house cut built around cheeky hip-hop samples and some sturdy electrofunk bass. There's plenty of revivalist house fun to be had on "Beware Of The Dog", too, which sounds like it could have been made in 1989 or '90 (check out the retro-futurist riffage). "Gorgol" is a little deeper, but its party atmos samples and dubbed-out riffs still bristle with smile-inducing exuberance.
