Following rock solid releases from Kalson and Algy Strutt, Gourango Music has turned to sometime Roam Recordings and Spa In Disco artist K-Effect for EP number three. The experienced producer delivers the goods - and then some - on title track "Awareness", a chugging, psychedelic disco throb-job rich in hypnotic organ motifs, druggy acid lines, Italo-style arpeggio bass and pulsating peak-time drums. It's borderline trance-inducing, and in our book that's no bad thing. Virtual flipside "R.E.M Phasex" is equally mind-altering in its own way, with K-Effect wrapping oddball melodic motifs, creepy chords and strange noises around a bassline reminiscent of Rinder & Lewis's legendary cover version of "Willie and the Hand Jive", and drums that shuffle and echo across the sound space.
