Mexico's Furious Mandrill bring us a three-tracker from Kristoff MX, AKA Christopher E de los Monteros from Quer?taro, who judging by the sound of this EP has clearly been digging on a lot of old African disco and funk records from the 1970s. 'Black Mamba' centres around a chanted vocal that sits atop a bed of fluttering guitars, while the more gently-paced 'Awake' is all rolling drums, brass stabs and a sing-song vocal in an unidentified language. Closer 'Manduke' then takes us into slightly more straight-up funk pastures, making it potentially the best bet for non-specialist floors.
