Nordic Trax was putting out deep house music when the current crop of hyped Vancouver producers were still in nappies. While the label's releases are far more sporadic these days, it continues to deliver gems now and then. This expansive EP from Krown & Lock is a great example. "Chameleon" and "Tango" are both warm and woozy, sitting somewhere between the hazy, sun-kissed fare once a staple of the San Francisco sound, and the more melodious end of the tech-house spectrum. The latter aspect - think early British tech-house - is emphasized on Johnny Fiasco's two fantastic remixes of "Chameleon". Also worth checking is "Summersby", a picturesque, nu-disco influenced shuffler that certainly lives up to the promise of its name.Get new release alerts
