Review

Mac N Dan released a series of well-received EPs on Autektone last year, and now return with another dynamic three-tracker for the label. "Take You Higher" is based on tough kicks and draws on epic synth builds and rolling snares to create a huge, old-school referencing track. On "Can You Feel It", the Northern Irish duo opt for a similar approach: deploying concrete weight drums, they pepper the arrangement with rave stabs and innocent-sounding vocal samples to create a euphoric effect. "Belmont Stomp" follows in a similar vein, and on this occasion, their pounding kicks underpin hardcore bass and epic builds, leading to a slightly more ominous rave-tinged finale.
