Magnia Pia is an alias for Huseyin Evirgen, who is one half of dub techno act Cassegrain. As this second release under the alias shows, it is an outlet for more stripped back club tracks. "Artemisia" sounds inspired by classic minimal house and techno, with Evirgen squeezing out wild tonal shrieks and bleeps over a rough, analogue rhythm. It's in stark contrast to most sanitised dance music and sounds inspirational. "Semiramis" sees the intensity levels rise a notch or two as howling riffs reach a heady climax over a fat but visceral groove. Closing track "Akasha" sees Evirgen deliver another tight, rhythm-heavy workout, this time supported by rolling drums.Get new release alerts
