Had a bad day at work? Boss treating you like a slave? Then you need to slip into something more comfortable and put Martin Schulte's "Urban Spirit" on the stereo. The work of Russian producer Marat Shibaev, this four-tracker touches on house, ambient and dub techno, but it's the way that he combines them to make his own unique compositions that impresses. The unlikely named "Killer" is a gently unfolding, mid-tempo house groove, while "Overcast", though fashioned in roughly the same mould, represents a less sensuous and more melancholic feeling. "Satelite" and "Urban Wind" see Shibaev retreat from any semblance of a groove, yet their dreamy, dubbed out soundscapes provide the most rewarding aural massage here.
