For all his issues - and, let's be fair, he had more than a few - Gaye made some of the most thrilling, touching and thoughtful soul music of the 1960s and 1970s. This new "best of" features a mix of his early Motown soul-pop staples ("Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Can I Get A Witness" etc) alongside more adventurous and hard-hitting compositions from his later years ("Inner City Blues", "Trouble Man", "What's Going On" etc).
