Here's a release for those who want to hear dub techno with a difference: Masis starts off Singers & Players with the gloriously evocative, slow-burning reggae title track, which features plaintive vocals hovering seductively in the smoky ether. It's reminiscent of Rhythm & Sound at their most introspective. "Aloof" is more dance floor-focused and sees a stepping rhythm support dub shanties that build and ebb gently. Rounding off the release is "Above Ground". Like "Aloof", it is focused on the floor, but its deep beats are more immersive and the overall effect is akin to being immersed in a warm bath.
