London nu-disco imprint Bearfunk are back with a smashing tune from the mysterious Matt Kenny. My Malaise" is classic Detroit techno - hi-tech soul if you will, but not at such a blistering tempo. Kenny somehow makes it work in a downbeat fashion which we could really appreciate. From what we can tell, the track is around five years old but sounds as fresh as ever: we're glad that Stevie Kotey and Co. could help this sleeper hit see the light of day and bring forth his first release in nearly 10 years! His last release was on sub-label Hairy Claw way back when. It also gets a wicked remix by Reverso 68 main man Pete Herbert on his absolutely electric Brick Lane version, and is followed up by another original offering in the form of the evocative "Back 2 Basement". It's yet more soulful and evocative techno business that will appeal to fans of first and second wave sounds from the Motor City.Get new release alerts
