Review:
ESHU presents four radically different interpretations of modern techno. Mattias Fridell's "Denial of all Reality" is the toughest and most zeitgeist-defining, with dark, droning riffs building over a hypnotic, never-ending pulse. By contrast, Tomas Rubeck's "Factions" is a slowed down, mid-tempo groover, its dubby drums and resonating claps lending it a sense of spaciousness. Myles Serge's "EI-C" sees the tempo raised again as the producer makes references to Robert Hood's brand of visceral minimalism. Hissing sprays of percussion are woven over doubled up drums as intensity levels keep building. Imugen Orihasam's "Undefined" marks another stylistic shift and deep, reflective techno ensues, with swirling chords unfolding over a lazy groove.
