Monday Listening Club are something of an unusual proposition, an anonymous group of producers from Canada, the US, the UK and Hong Kong whose MO is to make new music from old: "through patchwork, sampling, collage, composition and creation, new music emerges," reads their online manifesto. This, the musical magpies' debut full-length, draws primarily on 70s funk and soul for inspiration, flecked through with found sounds and hints of the rave, and served with a dusty, looping lo-fi/Balearic twist - resulting in an album that manages to sound vintage and thoroughly contemporary at the same time.
