With a title like "Nightmares" this review is dangerously close to stating the bleeding obvious. There's no light at the end of the tunnel. There's no euphoric rush. Or funky-assed synth boogie. And that's exactly how C&K like it. Clearly influenced by the darker, looping, DMZ or Appleblim schools, both "Nightmares" and its bedfellow "Subway" are creepy, skanking and deep dark percussive workouts. "Subway" is a little lighter thanks to higher tones on the dub echoes but with that ghostly vocal sample wafting away in the background, the darkness is never more than two rim shots away.
