Germany's Nils Penner is a perfect fit for the Compost Black label, his suave approach to tech-minded deep house instilling yet further credibility into this successful label. He's appeared on here before, along with an appearance on the equally awesome Freerange Records, but "The One" feels like his most musical and accomplished work to date, thanks to the vocal appearance of Emilie Nana in what is a smooth, silky house groover for all sorts of DJs to enjoy. There's a heavier, moodier dub of the title track too, while "Mercury" goes into more progressive territories, and "Blue" driving an almost jazzy, balearic excursion. Another winner from CBL - recommended!
