This latest missive from Patrick Luca's Saft label sees ESP Institute regular Ian Blevins join forces with label-surfing deep house producer NY*AK. On "Grasscutter", a hazy mid-tempo concoction, the pair successfully joins the dots between woozy, Chaos In The CBD style deep house, and more R&B-influenced bass-house flavours. Their dusty, soul-flecked deep house influences are explored further on the more up-tempo "Good Feeling", while "Work It Out" smartly combines tipsy synth bass and head-nodding disco drums, with rich keys and delay-laden vocal samples. New York-based Bristolian DJ Nature serves up a fine interpretation of the latter track, successfully giving it a looser, warmer and more organic feel via fluid piano lines and hip-hop influenced house beats.Get new release alerts
