Formative dub science: Page One and The Observers recorded this session for Carib in 1976, echoing the sentiments of Tubby and paving the way for the likes of Perry and Scientist. Sonorously simplistic yet rich in texture and dynamics, few producers knew how to maximise studio techniques in the 70s than these guys. Flipping from emotional organ yarns and dreamy guitar twangs ("Nuff Bread On Our Table") to driving upbeat, snare-and-bass Q&As ("Persuassion"), Observation Of Life Dub is meditative, musical and mesmerising in equal measure. It's a shame Page One and The Observers only recorded this one session... Make sure it's part of your collection.
