Review

Matt Edwards label goes down an alternate route for its latest release. The title track on newcomer Patrick Conway's EP is reminiscent of Edwards' own work as Quiet Village, as gentle break beats provide the backdrop for warm synth melodies that feel like a summer wind blowing in over a sandy beach. "Orbit" is also mellow, but on this occasion, the author opts for the mysterious, bleepy tones of Detroit techno and Sheffield-style metallic piston rhythms to express himself. It's the polar opposite to the title track, but is just as impressive. Closing out this unpredictable release is Pangaea's take on "Orbit", where the UK producer delivers a funkier, more upbeat version.
