Listening to Pawas Gupta's latest release, one is reminded that deep house need not be a term associated with dull toolish grooves. "Djupt" sets the tone for the release, its widescreen synths and ponderous bass creating an effortless middle ground between Morgan Geist's techno excursions and the best bits of Lawrence's Dial label. "Micro Bomb" is more contemporary sounding, with its tribal beats and walking bass, but neither compare to the title track. Like vintage Swag or a track that Harri should have included on his seminal Subculture mix CD, its playful synths and jazzy keys ride a sassy, purring bass that ebbs and flows seductively.
