Review

Phara aka Robin De Wolf is one of the resident DJs at Fuse in Brussels. It should come as no surprise then that the techno heritage of that seminal club is audible throughout his latest EP. "Flux" is a high-octane percussive workout with a melodic undercurrent - think vintage 100% Pure with a tight, contemporary production aesthetic. In contrast, "Fleshy Part of the Thigh" is a lush deep techno track, with woozy synths looped to a skeletal rhythm. "In Dubio" sees De Wolf fuse tough kicks and snappy percussion with his penchant for melodies. He goes deep again on "Float", which sounds like a mellow take on Rotation-era Vince Watson.
