There's no denying that Pheek is a productive musician. Having released on countless labels over the last two-to-three years, he now comes through on Canada's Archipel imprint and he's brought nine ice-cold experimentations with him. While we're usually used to hearing him in a more club-friendly mood, the White Raven EP is almost totally free of any kick drum of percussion and instead, Pheek has chosen to go for the totally abstract. The beauty of a track like "Serpentine", though, with its gorgeous swirls of ambience travelling across the sky, is impressive nonetheless and we love to see producers moving away from the dancefloor and onto more daring landscapes. This is a truly remarkable drone/ambient EP and it should NOT be slept on.
