French house master Phil Weeks makes no compromises and delivers the sixth instalment of the Essential Beats series, presented via his own legendary Robsoul Recordings. Much like the previous five outings, these eight tracks are a house jockey's dream, a bunch of funky yet deep cuts brimming with sublime samples and dusty percussive swings. "Bad Chance Went Thru My Mind" certainly stands out amongst the tunes, but we're also feeling the piano-led "Portrait In Jazz". Trust us, there ain't much of this kind of thing floating around, and Weeks does it best. Smokin'!
