Review

It could be argued that Phil Weeks' "Live At Palladium" track was a little overlooked when it was first released back in 214. Weeks certainly thinks so as he's decided to reissue it with a pair of tasty new remixes. The EP opens with a fresh "2020 Remaster" of the track, which successfully polishes up the languid, hypnotic, groovy and emotion-rich, Marvin Gaye-sampling original mix. Junior Sanchez takes a widly different approach, delivering a sweaty and forthright "French Touch" style remix full of early Cassius style synth loops, bustling beats and chopped-up samples. Arguably even better is Darius Syrossian's re-rub, which re-frames "Live At Palladium" as a loopy chunk of deep tech-funk heaviness for peak-time dancefloors.
