For us, Articulate is a label that really needs no introduction. Known for their experimental take on UK funky, bass and dubstep, the team behind the project are constantly looking at expanding their sound into new areas, which is exactly what this shimmering new project from Retrospect achieves. The title track 'Jewel' is a perfect bassline & funky hybrid, driven by elegant grooves and grizzly bass sounds, alongside the high energy drum and chord movements across 'Hoko Dub' and the super dippy bass instrument flows of 'Huntsman'. It doesn't stop there however as Kotei and Fork & Knife get to work with uptempo grimey reworks of 'Jewel', with Limita working his UKG magic into his overhaul of 'Hoko Dub'.
