As Rings Around Saturn, Rory McPike has a fine track record of joining the dots between deep space ambient, early '90s IDM, mind-altering ambient techno and the kind of evocative, otherworldly deep house that seems to float from the speakers on a wave of marijuana smoke. "Circling Architecture" naturally offers up ear-pleasing cuts that mine many of the same influences, from the attention-grabbing chord sequences, bubbly electronics and laidback breakbeats of "Engineered Ruins", to the intergalactic but bass-heavy bustle of "Decompression" and the opaque early morning hypnotism of "The Edgelands", which is one of the deepest and most alluring house cuts we've heard for some time. Title track "Circling Architecture", an electro and IDM inspired bubbler, is also superb.
