Conga Radio member Roberto released his first solo EP on Good Timin', Junk Rudder, back in 2016, though initially only on vinyl. Happily, it has now been released on digital download for the very first time. It remains one of the label's finest releases to date, with the Canadian producer serving up an analogue-rich quartet of cuts marked out by dreamy chords, delay-laden drum machine percussion and hazy, glassy-eyed synthesizer melodies. We're particularly enjoying "Twilight", whose ultra-dreamy chords are contrasted by some heavy sub-bass, and the jaunty proto-Balearic house roll of "Junk Rudder", though both the chiming "Oceanic" and more boogie-driven "Atomic Haze" are equally as impressive. In other words, it's a superb EP.
