It sounds like Rob Kirkaldy aka Roberto is doing something right. For the fifth release on his label, the London-based producer has enlisted the services of two of techno's main players. Former UR member Rolando is tasked with reworking "Perisphinctes" and turns it into an unusual combination. Using the stepping rhythms of Shed and Ben Klock-style dense drums, he merges this distinctly Berlin elements with soaring Detroit chords. Meanwhile, Steve Rachmad steps up under his Sterac guise to rework "Tiziani". Combining firing percussion and relentless snares with a pulsing rhythm, the overall result is a lean, predatory techno groove.
