Review

Roland Leesker has long been something of a big cheese in the German electronic music scene, principally via day jobs for Virgin Germany and, more recently, Get Physical. Now CEO of the latter, he's been releasing music on M.A.N.D.Y, Booka Shade and DJ T's label on and off for the last decade. 'Searching For Peace' is his debut album and sees the long-serving DJ join the dots between off-kilter 21st century funk, deep house, tech-house and nu-disco. There's much to admire throughout, from the low-slung 21st century deep disco of 'Summer House' and the throbbing, Dan Diamond-fronted Italo-disco chug of 'Let It All Go', to the 21st century, rap-sporting electro-funk of Jacinto hook-up 'All These Lives' and the warehouse-ready peak-time pump of 'What Is'.
