Lo-fi synth maestro Ruf Dug has cordially invited us to take a short stay on "Ruffy's Island", a lesser-known tropical paradise nestled somewhere between Manchester and Madagascar. To get a better view, he first invites us to dance along aboard his "Boat Party", where cheery lead lines skip around a crackling analogue groove. Next up is guided tour of the island's "Techno Cave", a dark place where you're encouraged to dance shirtless to the accompaniment of tribal drum samples, foreboding riffs and mind-altering electronics. Lurking towards the back is Sharif Laffrey, who guides us through ten minutes of stomping beats, weirdo riffs and glassy-eyed jacking intensity. The highlight of the trip, though, may well be "Abandoned Pyramid", a dubbed-out chunk of tropical synthesizer madness constructed in cahoots with Contours.
