Product information
There are few contemporary techno artists who can boast the same kind of consistency as Mike Dehnert. Since 2007, he has been releasing killer techno EPs that capture the spirit of the classic Detroit/Berlin axis, but with a grubby, grimy, distinctive feeling. Happily, Dehnert doesn't stray from the path on "MD". The same hissing percussion, raw, pounding beats and stepping rhythms are present and correct - the only marked difference is the soulful vocal snippet that insinuates itself into the arrangement. Joining the Berlin producer on this occasion is his close colleague Rydell, who offers a deeper, less abrasive take on Basic Channel's scuffled dub template - the mellow chord-heavy groove is the ideal antidote to Dehnert's relentlessness. Do not sleep on this.
